SwingPlanner
  • SwingPlanner is developed to value and hedge long term gas contracts, also known as swing contracts. StoragePlanner software is developed by EnergyQuants to value and hedge virtual and physical gas storage contracts. The two problems are related and we utilize a similar interface on the input and output side for both software.

We support both static (like daily, monthly or tradable intrinsic) and dynamic (spot, spot upper bound and rolling intrinsic) trading strategies. In the software realistic physical and contract features can be included into the optimization. These include for example volume dependent injection and withdrawal and maintenance for gas storage. For swing, several layers of volumetric restrictions can be entered, including regimes like make-up, carry-forward and penalties. We allow the contract price to be a combination of fixed, gas and oil indexation. Common features of the software include the possibility to perform both historic analysis (backtest) and forward looking simulations. The market can be modelled by a specification of tradable products with their individual trading costs and liquidity.

Special features of the software include flexible sensitivity analysis and interactive visualization of the contract usage. This allows to answer questions from different levels within the organization, and supports the lifecycle from negotiation to execution of storage and swing contracts. The software provides different layers of insight presenting output in Excel and the interactive visualization. In addition the user can get access to the underlying code.

NetworkPlanner
  • NetworkPlanner allows to jointly optimize a gas portfolio from a network perspective. In the gas portfolio several instruments such as storage, swing, hub and demand points can be present. In the network these are connected by aggregation points and pipelines. Restrictions can be put on individual instruments and pipelines.

The network approach is especially useful when there are joint constraints on any instrument. Think for example about one storage connected to multiple hubs, or a swing contract serving a demand in a market with limited liquidity. As complexity naturally rises in a network, we put a lot of emphasis on visualization of results. In the result interface the user can easily setup a variety of graphs and tables in a single page to gain insight in the performed optimization.

In NetworkPlanner we allow for all the usual constraints on the instruments and allow for price and demand scenarios. This can be cast into a historical backtest or a simulated based valuation. The underlying optimization is performed using rolling intrinsic.

ProfilePlanner
  • ProfilePlanner is a pricing engine for retail power and gas customers. It includes several cost types like imbalance charges and risk premiums and can price fixed price and variable contracts. This pricing engine can be used for standard and non-standard contracts.

CurvePlanner
  • Curveplanner is helping you with building daily and/or hourly forward curves for all kind of commodities. This software is easy to use and has several input options to define the desired shape. Customers are banks and energy-utilities, which use this software to evaluate investment decisions and their trading portfolio.

CurvePlanner is provided with a robust historical database of commodity prices which are computed to back up your forward curves. Using this database, seasonal and even working days-weekend behaviour of the desired commodity prices can be approached. Alternatively, you can also make a manual use of the tool and provide your own forward products to create a whole range of future scenarios, giving you that useful information needed for decision making.

Its easiness of use is also one of its greatest advantages. You can select the type of curve you want to see and the factors to reproduce it and within a few minutes you will have your desired forecasted-prices curve nicely presented in a very useful interactive output.
